I'm not sure "varied fields" encompasses everything under that heading, particularly "fretty". "Fretty" isn't part of the field (like semy is) but something laid over it. --Daniel C. Boyer 14:21, 15 Dec 2005 (CST)

IIRC, it is a variant of a fess indented, one where the line zig-zags. I have seen (mundanely) dancetty used interchangably with indented sometimes. I don't know about in period. "A dance" is used to refer to a fess indented that has the zig-zag form. It probably bares mention under indented at least. -- Sabine 02:32, 12 October 2006 (EST)
