Astringer

A falconer who trains goshawks. This word is also written as "austringer" or "ostringer" and is derived from the French "ostricier", which in turn is from the Latin "accipiter" (hawk).

Apparently in Shakespeare’s play Love’s Labour’s Lost there is a stage direction: “Enter a gentle astringer”.
